Summer Benefit Auction fundraising

GSRW auctions have raised more than $33,000 to support Kids, Teens, & Museum activities.

Summer Benefit Auction June 8, 2014

Walnut Creek, California The annual GSRW benefit auction was held at the home of Denny & Kathy Decker. The day was high-lighted by the exquisite auction talents of Dave Huisman with his able helpers Denny Decker, Harley Thompson and Bruce Selfridge.

An entire set of Brittany dinnerware was graciously donated to the auc-tion, and will be seen at a future meeting as serving pieces.

This auction probably 2nd favorite GSRW club activity, with the Gift Exchange at the Christmas meeting being the favorite.

GSRW members have been teachers & supporters of Kids View since 2000

The Red Wing Collectors Society 8  KidsView Program began at the Annual Convention in 2000. Due to its popularity, the MidWinter GetTogether KidsView began in 2007. KidsView is for children ages 3 to 15 years of age. Its goal is to educate and stimulate the youth of the RWCS, as they are the next generation of collectors. No adults are allowed except for teachers like Golden State Red Wing club potter, Mike Robinson.

Each year the participants are offered a jam packed schedule of events. Some of the topics in years past have included:

  • Make Your Own Stoneware
  • Auction, both Silent and Bidding interactive with "Red Wing bucks". All pieces are donated by our generous members!
  • Paint a real Red Wing Plate, just as it was done in the Pottery
  • Starting a collection and show your display
  • Living history presentations
