Red Wing stoneware fancy jug

Original - Minnesota Stoneware Co. 1883 - 1906 Fancy Jug - 8 sizes: 2 gallon to 1/8 pint.

Parts of jugs, pots, and other pieces were covered with a brown glaze using a brown-firing clay from Albany, New York called Albany slip. When another part of single piece was glazed with white zinc it was called a fancy jug. Many were made for hard cider & liquor companies and had the name of the distillery and a "please return to" reminder imprinted.
